Why do I volunteer?

I volunteer mainly because I love seeing the smiles and happy looks on other people's faces after they are served in some way.  I love helping people and making them happy.  When people feel like they belong somewhere and are cared about they tend to be happier.  Also, when we serve others we are serving the Lord.  Our whole purpose on Earth is to become more like Christ and return to our Heavenly Father.  Christ was the ultimate example of service; he would help the poor, the sick, the lonely, and the sinners.  It is important for us to serve others so we can feel the spirit of charity which is the pure love of Christ.  When I first started at BYU I just felt that something was missing; I was spending too much time just thinking and doing stuff for myself, I wasn't helping anyone.  I decided I wanted to make a difference on campus and serve those around me, that is when I found BYUSA.
