The most important behaviors for getting results with a project or problem are having a clear vision of desired results, anticipating problems, creating a high-performance team, and is being quick to act. With all of these behaviors, a leader will be able to work with their team in achieving results.
Having a clear vision of desired results will help ensure that every choice you make is towards a common goal. If you know what you want to accomplish, it is easier to make sure you accomplish your goal. For example, here in BYUSA we have a vision which every area in BYUSA strives to accomplish. Everything that we do should be help to accomplish the vision. In the clubs area we made an area vision that helps us focus on what we are trying to accomplish in our roles as executive directors. The main focus of our vision is charity. Charity is behind every choice that we make in the clubs area as we put on programs and help club presidents.
By anticipating problems, leaders are able to have back up plans that will enable them to still accomplish their ultimate goal. It is important to do some environmental scanning so you can think of potential problems that you may face on your way to achieve your desired results. By looking at potential problems, you can prepare to overcome them. By being prepared, it is easier to not get stressed out when something wrong happens.
Creating a high-performance team is one of the most important things in achieving results. With a strong team, you will be able to accomplish more than with just yourself. A team will bring together different views and opinions that will be powerful enough to accomplish more. Additionally, it is vital to have a high-performance team where everyone is working hard towards a common goal. If your team has one person that is not on the same page, it can bring the entire team down.
Being quick to act is another important quality to have to accomplish results. When a problem arises it is important to act quickly so the problem does not linger. Being decisive is something that will help tasks to be accomplished more efficiently.
