Difficult Conversation

Last semester my program director for Care Week wasn't fulfilling her duties so I had to have the difficult conversation with her.  At first I had to approach her and acknowledge that I wanted to talk with her.  Next, I talked with her about all of the positive things she had accomplished.  I also discussed how she is a great friend and that I appreciate everything she had done.  Next, I brought up the things that I expected from her position and how they had not been met.  I had to ask her if she was willing to step up and meet her responsibilities for next semester or if she wanted to step down from program director.

She acknowledged that she hadn't been meeting her responsibilities and said that she wanted to continue serving as program director for the next semester. I noticed a huge difference in her work ethic and her dedication in the winter semester.  I am so glad that I was able to talk with her so she could recognize what needed to be changed.
